From an idea conceived in the summer of 1993, Doncaster Concert Band (DCB) has enjoyed delivering passion in performance for nearly 30 years.
The band has developed into a successful group of talented musicians performing regularly at outdoor venues and concert halls, particularly around areas local to Doncaster.
Players in the band come from from all walks of life and join together to rehearse weekly and perform a variety of music to suit all occasions.
The band is a registered charity (Charity no. 1039772) and supports other good causes where possible.
We have been very fortunate over the last 25 years, to be have been led by Karen Latimer, and more recently by both Karen and her husband Colin Latimer whose passion and dedication has been focused on creating an extensive repertoire whilst achieving the highest standard of performance. Both are incredible musicians and so made the decision last year (2022) to take a step back to play more.
Therefore, since January 2023 they have handed the baton over to another very talented local musican - Will Taylor. He has intermittently played with the band over the years since the very beginning and is currently also Head of Music at The McAuley Catholic High School. We are delighted to have him as our current Musical Director for DCB. He is very committed to developing the band further and we hope to widen our audience, so that more people can appreciate the talent Doncaster has to offer.
